ADOPTION OPPORTUNITY - KENYA
KENYA; Mission of TEARS (Ontario) is accepting applications for Kenya. This is not a new program for our agency but it certainly is one that has been underutilized. Due to the severe issues over the last two years of drought, political strive and civil unrest more children are requiring permanent placement. As a government Kenya has taken an aggressive stand to see children not stay in state institutions or orphanages longer than three years. Inter country adoptions, although the last of the placement considerations for children is being furthered for Kenya by that government implementing the Hague convention structure for all adoptions. At the same time the domestic policy for Reintegration of the children in the orphanages is under way helping those children to stay in Kenya who can be reunited to community and family. Kenya desires to provide all possible opportunities for a child not to be left in an institutional setting. They have licensed our agency to allow for applications by Canadians, 25 to 60 years of age, married and in good health who would consider adopting a child from Kenya. Children available will be mainly single placements that are boys over the age of 12 months. This program requires a residency from 5 to 8 months in Kenya by applicants who wish to adopt and would suit those who’s schedule and time would allow them to begin parenting a child immediately. An approved application by the agency and personnel interview is required for Ontario residents before attending the mandatory fall informational and cultural orientation session soon to be scheduled. To request an application please call 416-449-0018 ext 101. Interested persons from other Provinces are invited to apply at this time and cultural/orientation sessions will be posted for eastern and western provinces. |
